Joshua Tree National Park Activities

Joshua Tree National Park is a unique and stunning destination that offers a range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Joshua Tree is a must-see destination for anyone coming to stay at Port Royal Paradise as it is located just 30 minutes from the house. It is routinely one of the most visited National Parks in the US every year, and for good reason, as the park covers over 790,000 acres of diverse desert landscapes, including two distinct ecosystems: the Mojave and the Colorado.

Joshua Tree is an easy day trip from the house. We recommend entering through the southern entrance off of the I-10 as it is much closer. You can drive all the way through the park and exit on the north side which is where the town of Joshua Tree is located. Whether you’re going for the day or planning to camp overnight, here are some of our favorite activities to do in Joshua Tree.

Hiking

The Park offers an extensive network of hiking trails that vary in difficulty and length, ranging from easy walks to challenging backcountry treks. Some of the most popular hikes include the 49 Palms Oasis Trail, the Lost Palms Oasis Trail, and the Ryan Mountain Trail. Each trail offers unique views of the park’s natural wonders, including stunning rock formations, wildflowers, and desert wildlife. For a full list, stop by the ranger station when you enter the park and they can provide you with a map of the park and recommend the best hike for you!

From sunrise to sunset, the park’s rugged terrain offers dramatic lighting and dynamic compositions that capture the essence of the desert landscape. Cultural experiences

Joshua Tree has a rich cultural history, including the traditions of the Native American tribes that have lived in the area for thousands of years. The park also features historic homesteads and mining sites that offer a glimpse into the region’s past. Visitors can explore these cultural sites on ranger-led tours and educational programs.
